We (Marianne & Cindy), the founders of RainbowWeddingNetwork.com, held our commitment ceremony in August 2000. It was not legally recognized. In 2008, we were able to tie the knot in Malibu CA, and this one was in fact recognized by that state. After 2014, our marriage was recognized by our home state of N. Carolina. After the Obergefell Decision in 2015, our union was finally acknowledged at the federal level. We have lived that roller coaster ride, to be sure. And it has had its effects on our two children, both of whom were adopted. This article, with words from former Justice Kennedy, are heartening to say the least. May his thoughts about the matter hold true.
